IBS stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. According to the NHS definition it:

Is a common condition (chronic illness) that affects the digestive system.

Causes a wide range of symptoms like stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation.

Has an unknown cause: triggers seem to include stress, family history, certain foods, oversensitive nerves in the gut.

Has no cure: it is a condition that has to be managed.

Let’s get more people talking about IBS: it is a functional disorder but often has a massive impact on people’s every day lives. A lot of people don’t even tell anyone they’re suffering with it, it is an invisible illness. It can be embarrassing, inconvenient, painful and even funny at times.
